Pastor Tim's Book Discussion
Our next book is Sing for Your Life: A Story of Race, Music and Family by Daniel Bergner. This is the story of Ryan “Speedo” Green’s journey from a troubled childhood in which he attempt to stab his troubled and often violent mother, which landed him in juvenile detention, through his high school years at an arts high school, to becoming a shining young star at the Metropolitan Opera. His story is touching and inspiring. The New York Times Book Review describes the book as “Deeply moving... A testament to the limitlessness of the human spirit, even in the most forlorn and unexpected places.... This is a book of great compassion that traces the contours of a single remarkable life. But Bergner is also doing something more expansive, examining the long and tormented history of black involvement in an elite artistic tradition and in society at large. Ultimately, this is the story that captures the most inexplicable thing — the human will itself." Come and join us at 11:15 am in the Heywood Room for a discussion of this book.

ASP Spaghetti Dinner
Do you love Italian food? Is it even better when you don’t have to cook or clean up? Well, the youth Spaghetti Dinner is back! On Saturday, January 20, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm, our youth will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner. Come join us for spaghetti, salad, bread, and dessert! All proceeds will go to benefit the 2018 Youth Mission Trip with Appalachia Service Project in June. Cost for adults will be $8 and $4 for kids (12 and under). Tickets will be available after church on January 7 and 14. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Please watch the bulletin and email announcements for more details.

Youth Outreach Project

Our youth have been busy figuring out ways that they can better serve our community. They have come up with the idea of collecting supplies and assembling some blessing bags that we can then donate to local shelters. This project is being led by all youth. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to see what they are doing and help them achieve their goal. This will be a 12-week project, with new items to be collected every 2 weeks. We will be collecting December - February. We will then assemble our bags during our 30-Hour Famine and distribute them. We began on December 3 with our first collection. The youth are asking that from January 7-14 you please donate the following items: bar soap, feminine products, Wet-One wipes, hand sanitizer (travel size), and travel size shampoo. Donations can be placed in the boxes outside of the chapel and sanctuary entrances. Our goal is to assemble and distribute 50 bags! Please help us make it happen! Stay tuned for the next list of needed items!

Undee Sunday
We see London! We see France! We want to see lots of Underpants (and Diapers)!!!
On January 21st our church is having a diaper and underwear drive and we want you to help us by bringing NEW underwear and packages of diapers to Sunday School. We will be delivering the donations to United Methodist Children's Services where the need is great!!

Calling All Snow Shovelers
If you or someone you know is interested in shoveling snow for our local elders please consider becoming a volunteer. After filling out a volunteer application we will add you to a list by neighborhood. You can shovel as little or as much as you want. Even once or twice this winter would be greatly appreciated. Our older adults are desperate for assistance with their shoveling needs. Call 414-453-5750, Greater Tosa Interfaith Neighborhood Outreach Program.
