ASP Eat Out Fundraiser-Help Our Youth Get to Kentucky
Do you enjoy eating out? Now you can eat out and support our youth at the same time. Join us on June 7th at Cousin’s Subs, 6810 W. State Street. You do not need a flyer, just mention the youth group and you will earn us some money!

Collecting Soaps and Toiletries for United Methodist Children's Services
Over the next few weeks, Church & Society and the United Methodist Women will be collecting the toiletries for the transitional housing program at United Methodist Children’s Services. UMCS has said they especially want bar soap and laundry soap. Also toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, razors, toothpaste and toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, and other personal care items. These should all be new and unused. Please put your donations in the bin under the central staircase near the grocery cart or in baskets you will see around church. Thank you for your donations!

Sandwich Service Project-May 20th

Our next date to make 200 bag lunches for The Gathering is Saturday, May 20. We will meet from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at our church to make peanut butter sandwiches, bag cookies and carrots or fruit, and pack the lunches. Some of us will take the lunches to St. James Church at 8th and Wisconsin. See the sign-up sheet on the information table in Fellowship Hall. Or sign up with Meg Kruger at 414-771-6010 or megkruger@sbcglobal.net, so we can plan on your help and/or coordinate your contributions. We especially need fruit, cookies and workers. Sponsored by Church & Society.

New Member Exploration Class
Have you been coming to our church for a while and wondered what it would mean to join? We will be having two class sessions to allow the opportunity to explore membership at Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church. They will be at 4:00 pm on Sundays, May 21 and June 4, in the Heywood Room. Our church stands in the proud tradition of Methodism. Our own congregation has a lively and interesting history. We are a church on the move and are looking forward to an exciting future. Come and be an active part!

Pastor Tim's Book Study
The next book study will be at 11:00 am on Sunday, June 11, in the Heywood Room. We will be reading Clay’s Quilt by Silas House. It is available in hardback, paper, and Kindle versions. It is available from the public library. The following is a description from the American Library Association: When he was four years old, Clay Sizemore was stuck with his mother in a blizzard on a Kentucky mountain road, and she was killed. Raised by loving kinfolk, Clay as an adult still remembers the blood in the snow that day as he tries to piece together his mother's life, aided by the memories of family and friends, a long-lost letter, and a final gift from his great-uncle, who makes quilts. Joining Clay in his quest to find his roots is Alma, who wins his heart with the music she plays on her fiddle, but who brings a past that causes pain. First-novelist House, who works as a postal-service carrier in rural Kentucky, does a remarkable job of gradually unfolding his story and revealing his appealing cast of characters, all in a clear, cadenced prose. A lovely and accomplished literary debut.

Altar Flowers Needed
Altar flowers add so much to our Sunday morning worship experience, and we are inviting you to think about providing flowers sometime during the coming year. If you haven’t noticed, there’s a new 2017 altar flower calendar located in Fellowship Hall (on the side of the refrigerator by the sink). Think about a person you might like to honor, a special date you want to observe, a deceased loved-one you would like to remember by giving flowers. Please sign your name on the chart, along with what you want printed in the bulletin (flowers in honor, in memory of someone, or to celebrate a special day). Specific instructions are posted on the chart.
